Lonicera periclymenum is a shrubby climber, bearing fragrant, tubular white flowers, which mature to yellow, from July to September. It will quickly cover a wall or fence, and is a magnet for garden wildlife. It makes a fabulous planting companion for roses.
Lonicera periclymenum ‘Serotina’ bears large, fragrant creamy-white flowers streaked with dark red. It’s a vigorous climber that will quickly cover a trellis or arch, where it associates well with climbing roses or other varieties of honeysuckle.
For best results plant Lonicera periclymenum ‘Serotina’ in moist but well-drained soil. Honeysuckle can be prone to mildew – to prevent this, plant in dappled shade or so the roots are kept in the shade but the foliage can grow into the sun.
